Africa Summer Study-Abroad Program for 2005
The Department of Africana Studies at Wayne State University is pleased to announce the Africa Travel-Study Program. Begun in 1991, previous study-trips traveled to Nigeria (1992), Ghana and Senegal (1995 and 1997), and Ghana (2005) and South Africa (1999, 2000 and 2001). The program has also been enriched by side-trips to Togo and Benin (Whydah and the Lac-village of Ganvie). The Africa Travel Abroad Program seeks to:
The program seeks to attain these objectives through a stimulating academic program in African history, culture, and development, as well as extensive local travel in Ghana and South Africa, designed to expose participants to the social, cultural, and physical landscape of Africa. All courses are taught by African academics who are specialists in their particular fields; the study trip itself is managed and led by Professor Eboe Hutchful, a national of Ghana.
