Peter Eisinger (Ph.D. Yale). Professor. Urban Politics and Economic Development Policy 

Professor Eisinger comes to Wayne State University from the University of Wisconsin, where he taught for 28 years. He recently held the Hawkins Chair in Public Affairs there. At Wisconsin, he was Chair of the Political Science Department from 1987-1990 and Director of the La Follette Institute of Public Affairs from 1991-1996. His specialties are urban politics and economic development policy. He has published several books, including The Rise of the Entrepreneurial State (1988) American States and Cities (second edition, 1996), and Toward an End to Hunger in America (1998). He is the author of nearly 40 articles and chapters on topics ranging from the nature of urban protest to venture capital programs in the states to the measurement of hunger in the United States. He has held visiting teaching appointments at the University Essex, Columbia University, and Brown University. He was a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences in Palo Alto, California. At Wayne State, he holds a joint appointment in Political Science and the College of Urban, Labor and Metropolitan Affairs, where he is the Interim Director of the new State Policy Center.
