(Ph.D. Northwestern University). Professor. American Politics, Public Policy,
Methodology.
Professor Elder teaches courses in public policy,
American politics and methodology. He has served as the Deputy Dean of
the WSU College of Liberal Arts. Professor Elder's publications include
Participation
in American Politics: The Dynamics of Agenda-Building
and The Political
Use of Symbols . Recent articles include "Life Span Civic Development
and Voting Participation," published in the American Political Science
Review . Current projects include continuing participation as a co-principal
investigator in the Life Span Civic Development project, and work on a
new manuscript entitled Searching for Policy: Implementing the Older
Americans Act . Professor Elder was presented with the President's
Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1983. In 1998, Dr. Elder was awarded
the prestigious Aaron Wildavsky Award, an award given to a political scientist
who has made a significant and lasting contribution to scholarship in the
area of public policy studies.
