His undergraduate teaching includes American state politics and bureaucracy and public policy. Recent publications include a chapter on state administration in the seventh edition of Politics in the American States: A Comparative Analysis (Congressional Quarterly Press, 1999). Two co-authored articles published in 2000 are "Let Them Eat Marblecake: The Preferences of Michigan Citizens for Devolution and Intergovernmental Service Provision," (Publius), and "Mapping Patterns of Support for Privatization in the Mass Public: The Case of Michigan," (Public Administration Review). Current research includes the Michigan legislative term limits project, in collaboration with several other members of the Department of Political Science. He was a recipient of a Probus Club Award in 1993. In 1994 he received a Wayne State University Board of Governors Faculty Recognition Award for his book Public Management in the States (Praeger, 1992). |
