Curriculum vitae

Jodi Nachtwey earned a Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in comparative politics, with an emphasis in Middle East politics and public opinion research. She has published articles on popular support for political Islam, views toward international conflict, and trust in political factions. Her research has also focused on gender issues, her dissertation having analyzed employment and socio-political behavior among North African women. In her previous work at the U.S. Department of State, she conducted public opinion research on the Middle East, focusing on such topics as U.S. image, terrorism, regional conflict, youth, and Arab media. She also received a Superior Group Honor Award for work in Iraq. Her current research interests include the role of religion in attitudes toward governance and democracy, views toward political violence, the impact of regional political developments on Arab youth, and the role of changing economic patterns on women’s political behavior.
