Professor Parrish teaches public administration, organization theory and health care policy. His research interests are in comparative public administration, health policy and gerontology. He has published on diverse topics, including comparative welfare policy, Latin American politics, aging policy, and civic development over the life span. His research has been funded by various sources, including the National Institute on Aging and the Andrus Foundation. He is a former chair of the department and was the Director of the Wayne State University Institute of Gerontology for a number of years. He is a past President of the Wayne State University Chapter of the American Association of University Professors.
