Curriculum vitae


Professor Roth holds a joint appointment in the Department of Political Science and the Center for Legal Studies. He specializes in political and legal theory, American and comparative public law, and international law. His courses include International Law, Human Rights, The Rule of Law, Introduction to Legal Studies and Political Theory of Public Law. Before entering academia, he practiced law and served as law clerk to the Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court. His research has focused on questions of constitutionalism, democracy and sovereignty. He is the author of Governmental Illegitimacy in International Law (Oxford University Press 1999), and contributing co-editor (with Gregory H. Fox) of Democratic Governance and International Law (Cambridge University Press 2000). He also has articles in Ethics and International Affairs, Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems, and the Harvard International Law Journal.
